January 2000

Richard and Jean
New Years Day 2000!
7 paraglider pilots and 4 hang glider pilots showed up to start the year in the air. The 5 early birds were able to get sled rides or extended sled rides. Cloudbase which was barely above the mountain dropped down and swallowed us. Jean has Richard on a leash in this photo to prevent an accidental launch into the oblivion while kiting. Well, at least we think that's what the leash is for. - Tim -
Chris in moon
Tim got this great shot of Chris Kinghorn in front of the moon at Moore on January 15. - Tim -
Moore January 2000
Brushy Mountains of North Carolina, Saturday January 15, 2000. That's Chris K.
in the center of the picture, and a hang glider in the lower left corner.

Phil kiting
If it's T-shirt weather in January, there will be
paragliders outside. Phil sharpens his kiting skills.

Allen kiting
Give me a mountain, a hill, a ladder, anything --
I wanna fly!(Allen)
Chris at Moore
Chris, the English chap, soars the southern skies.
Boots over Moore
... and there are those boots again.

And then, winter finally hit. But that didn't stop the flying.

Crazy Fools
A dedicated bunch -- Tim, Ricky, Med,
and Kermon. Photo by Jim Bogle.
Dedicated
It's only a short hike through the woods.
Swish
Let's hope that thermal underwear works.

Snow boots
It was 20oF when I launched.
Snowy LZ
The LZ is covered with powder.
Sort of looks like the airport in Raleigh.
Tim on snowy LZ
Aaaah, time for some hot coffee, hot chocolate,
hot buttered rum, hot anything.

Ricky in the snow
