Med soars Big Walker. Little Walker is to the right.
The launch is a half inch to the right of Med's glider.
The fine sport of parawaiting. Here's Greg, Tom,
Ian, Chris, Tammy, Ben, Chubbs, Andrew, and
Tammy's mom on the spine of Big Walker Mountain.
|
The landing is field up and left of Med's glider, and
there are plenty of emergency landing fields around.
|
The Big Walker launch is at elevation 3200 MSL, about 960 ft. AGL. The LZ is 0.6 miles from launch,
4.3 : 1 glide. NW to N winds are perfect. W or NE are at the very limits of the window, and you
must be prepared to go cross country in these conditions. Wind tends to straighten out at launch.
You might launch into a perfect head wind only to find yourself drifting W or NE once you get away
from launch. It's a beautiful, long ridge with great ridge soaring, thermaling, and cross country opportunities.
